Exam Results

Just got back my Report Book (actually, just read it yesterday). Posting results here.

Art: 72, A2.

Quite expected for this one. A slight pity I didn't get A1 though. Ahh well, blame it on me for not realizing it had to be split up drawings >_>

Eng: 65, B3.

In all honesty quite embarrassing >_> I screwed up very badly because I made it somewhat too opinionated. Aah well, I can do better next time. Pity it was comprehension and not composition though. Pretty sure my composition would do better. *actually, looking at the screwup known as my previous prose, I might take that back >_>*

Geog: 65, B3.

Hey, nothing to say about this one. >_> A whole lot better than my other one because for once I actually studied. Made all the 17-point difference, eh? Still think part a for my 1st essay question could've scored better, though. 6/15 is ultra-sad. Made my 1st essay Q have a total of 10/20 =(. In comparison my other essay Q was 13.5/20. So much better =/

HCL: 57, C5

Shall not comment on this since I don't know how other people did. o_O

History: 64. B4

My source-based is better than I thought. 9/12. o_O Main screwup was in 3b. 2/6 for that Q, otherwise my raw score would actually have been B3+. o_O

Lsc: 56, C5

Aah, my worst subject. Never really liked Lsc from the start >_> Like Soo said to my dad: I better buck up or it won't be my cup of tea >_>

Lit: 70, A2

Just one statement for this. "Wth how the heck did my 60, B4 raw score turn to a 70, A2 raw score?" All hail Tucky o_O

Math: 72, A2

Muahahaha ph34r my l33t Math skillz! But really, I lost a whole ton of 1/2 marks to carelessness. I coulda got a A1 raw if not for that (I got 74, A2 for raw). 3 marks off to carelessness =/

Psc: 82, A1

Bah, I bet everyone got A1 anyway so this doesn't count. Way too easy in all honesty. In fact, I could got 39/40 instead of my 37/40 score if not for carelessness. Lol, Nitrogen Dioxide >_>

Well, that's my mini-blog for today. Cyaz again.

OM

OM was interesting. I managed to find much fun in the event and in all honesty? Getting 12th doesn't matter too much to me. >_>

Anyway.

Our performance was pretty good. I personally thought we could've done a bit better, but hey, Red Bull made everything hyper, so. >_>

Pin Trading is fun. Very fun. Seriously. Except when you have people like Kev who go about how cool his pin set is and degrade other's. >_> And people like the OTHER Kev who tries to trade Singaporean pins with other Singaporeans. ._.

Got a whole ton of pins that I like, so no regrets. Also got the froggie hat *Teh uber cutez*. And the New York and China OM T-Shirts. Traded S'pore 2k4 and 2k5 for them though. Bah, who cares. S'pore's T-Shirts never looked that good anyway >_>

Lines I learnt during OM:
The Iceland Accent (Avootvootyeah! o_O)
You will do everything/everyTING for me! (Abhisek's line)
My father was born in Manchester, my mother was born in Liverpool, and I? I was born in... Arsenal. (Colin's line)
Hi. I am Chinanee. Dhanesh Chinanee. Dhanesh Vijayshirikumar Chinanee. But you can call me D. Big D. Big ma-OK, We get the idea! (Dhanesh's line, interrupted by Jeremy)
Mr. Sun, Sun, Mr. Golden Sun, please shine down on me. Yay! (My line)
On the first day of Autumn, a leaf fell on me, AAH! (My line)
Bobo! (Mark)
Magikarp! Use splash attack! Magikarp Magikarp Magikarp Magikarp Magikarp! But nothing happens! (Any team member, then me.)

Interesting things I saw in OM/San Fran:
Don't like my I.Q? Fuh Q. (Sign)
Genius at Work (Sign I bought)
Help the Beerless (Sign being held by a homeless fella I gave a dollar to)
(Others are amiss, but I cannot remember them)

Mind currently rather fragmented. May only have a complete post after SJAB Camp (Which ends this Fri)

Blogging from Col'

Hiya everyone. Currently I am in Colorado and everything's just... PEACHY! (/albuquerque). It's pretty cold down here and I need two layers of clothing all the time except for hot afternoons. I really like the ambience here and the architecture too, so I'll show everyone some pics of the University of Colorado sometime.

Pin trading is especially fun too. Will show pics sometime.

Really short blog, sorry. Will find time sometime to do more detailed stuff.

PolkaOM!

PolkaOM! (To the tune of Polkamon, by Weird Al. If you don't know the tune, sucks to you >_>)

OM play that judges like,
Carrots and asparagi,
Headdress, drumsticks, cavemen skirts,
Songs and Coca Cola shirts.
Coke batons and Army pants,
Musicals and fighting chants.
Terrorists without their bombs,
Everybody PolkaOM!

Yes, we’re going on UA,
Even though it’s very gay,
Don’t bring iPods though they’re hip,
Don’t forget to leave a tip.
After Denver is San Fran,
Then right next will be Japan.
After that we’ll be back home,
Everybody PolkaOM!

It’s time to Polka
For Ferdie Quek and Chin Ee too,
Come on put on your first scene costumes,
And try not to step on little Charlotte Liu,
You better grab yourself a partner,
Like Abishek and Joshua Chow (Joshua Chow)
Hold on a minute,
There’s still a hundred and twenty stuff to go including

Acrylics and turpentine,
Buttons for that blasted sign,
Rafia for TV Screens,
With some chopsticks inbetween.
Don’t forget about foam boards,
Styrofoam and TV knobs,
Print reports from Chin Ee’s com,
Everybody PolkaOM!

Yes, I'm that bored to do this in 1 day >_> Signs of boredom while waiting for 4am so I can leave for Changi Airport. Btw, it's 10pm at the time of this blogpost. *sigh*

Random Piece of Writing

Just a prose I made 2 days ago. Yes, you can laugh at it for being bad, because it is.

Anyway.

Sorry for the awkwardness of the prose. I changed the main theme of the prose 1/2way (Something no one should do) and hence the weird change midway. >_> I'm too lazy to change it anyway so here it is.

-----------------------

A raindrop fell, quick and sudden, on my streaks of hair. Looking up, the skies slowly turn grey. Blue, slowly turning grey. Looking around, I see a few students running off into the school compounds. Why evade the inevitable? Besides, it's not as if they didn't have umbrellas. I continue to look around; some students from the field are complaining about the rain. Unappreciative folk. I took out my umbrella.

The sky continues to turn grey. And slowly does the rain fall upon the land.

I look at life around me: These trees, this grass, these flowers. I recognized one of them to be the iris. Irises thrived in the rain, last time I remembered. I suppose I was the only one who knew anything about such the unrecognized flower.

The irises stayed blooming while all the nearby flowers kneeled down before its glory. None gave disrespect to this flower, not even the most beautiful of roses. I take the rose and look at it. The petals slightly droop now, and one could tell its thorns' presence in the flower just by seeing. The once-magnificent plant was now dethroned, and that soon it will fade away into nothingness. Its hopes, dreams, beauty, all destroyed in the rain of despair. And I dropped the slain rose upon the grass, finding a good burial spot for this flower. However, none could be found, and the rose was thrown to the side of the road. The grass, they drown in hopelessness, and soon die out as well.

I suppose, it is indeed not the beautiful rose nor the abundant grass, but rather the unrecognized iris that thrives in the rain of despair.

Please post your idea of the symbolism behind this just so I can tell whether I did a decent job or not. >_>

While you're at it, flame or critique me. >_>

Pure philosophy

Sufism is a very interesting philosphy. Came across it during Eng exam.

"The clear bead at the centre changes everything.
There are no edges to my loving now.
I've heard it said, there's a window
That opens from one mind to another
But if there's no wall, there's no need
For fitting the window, or the latch."

I'm sure all the people who read this blog with some decent level of English can completely understand what this poem's trying to say. =) If you don't you phail at English, seriously.

EDIT: After Zhang proved to phail at English, I decided to put it here anyway.

My interpretion of what it's trying to essentially say is that interpersonal relationships shouldn't be one-sided like what we're doing now. Why should we use windows that only show a partial view of something when you could just take off the whole wall? You can understand a person completely that way. There is no reason for people to keep things to themselves and show things to others, for it is for no reason than to keep your reputation. (Sufism is anti-materialistic status btw). Why care about reputation and status? It is useless.

Look at the next poem which talks of similar things:

Take someone who doesn't keep score,
Who's not looking to be richer, or afraid of losing,
Who has not the slightest interest even
In the own personality: They're free.

Put it in the context of what is written above. What is materialistic status ultimately? It is decided by others, not you. What say do you have in such matters? You change yourself. Why change yourself to suit their views? It is a restricted life. You live life to please others? Then that is a pathetic life you lead, and that is the life society today leads.

The next one was a story. I can't remember the first few words, so it's paraphrasing for the first few words.

A person hit a worker on the back of his neck. Just as he was about to turn around and hit him, the first person asked him, "Before you hit me, answer this question: That sound: Was it made by my hand or your neck? "The pain I am feeling does not give me leave for speculation. These things are all right to worry about if you're feeling no pain."

The message here is more abstract, so I'll just put it here. It's useless to speculate over something and not do anything at all. Analysis is uesless if no action is taken. IOW, stop thinking if you aren't working.

Aah, Sufism really never goes old. =)

Hist: Screwup AGAIN. Only wrote 2 sides total. C5+.
Geog: Yet another screwup. 3 sides. o_O C5+.
Chinese: Not bad. B3.
Psc: ARGH SCREWUP ON LAST QUESTION but A2 nonetheless.
Lsc: Never was too good at it. B4 maybe?
Jap: Bargh I feel insulted to get below A1 for this.

That's all right now.

OM has gotten BACK ON TRACK TO MADNESS! IOW, yet ANOTHER long wait of non postiness. My last post will be done on Thursday. No posts will be done between Sunday and Thursday. And after Thursday, no blogging until 10 days later when I get back from America. Promise I'll take some pictures. =)

Today's blog is really short, because the next post is some writing about Sufism, my mid-exam enlightenment. =)
